PGA: Wait… Tiger lost?

By Craig Filazzola, WSOE Sports Director

The PGA Championship was won Sunday by Y.E. Yang, not the name we were expecting. When heading to the final round of a major, Tiger Woods came into the tournament 14-0. Now he’s 14-1.

Woods had a two-stroke lead going into the last round but missed numerous putts and virtually took himself out of the running. Yang made a few outstanding shots en route to his first major victory, shooting an 8-under.

Since Woods is by far the best in golf, his major losses are just as much of a headline as the golfers that win. Fair or not, the focus is that he lost the tournament rather than Yang won it.

This is one of golf’s biggest upsets in recent years. Woods was in position to notch another major, but instead his 5-under got him second place.
