MLB: The Rain Delay Nobody Wanted

By Craig Filazzola, WSOE Sports Director

The Washington Nationals and Houston Astros will continue their suspended game from May 5 tonight at 8:05.  The score is 10-10 in the bottom of the 11th.  Washington is at-bat with a runner on first and one out.

There wouldn’t have been extra innings if not for Houston’s sacrifice fly hit by Geoff Blum that scored Hunter Pence and tied the contest at 10 in the ninth.  Then the rain came in the 11th.

Tonight is the only opportunity to complete the game, as they are scheduled to start game one of the four-game series after the conclusion of the May 5 game in Houston.  Consider tonight’s suspended game to be the series appetizer.
