Despite the Detroit Red Wings possessing a 2-0 series lead, the Stanley Cup Finals aren’t over yet.
Pittsburgh played well in the first two games, but Detroit was better. The Red Wings made the most of their opportunities, and even though the Penguins had many scoring chances, Detroit’s goalie Chris Osgood shut all but two of them down.
Evgeni Malkin brought some life back to Pittsburgh when he fought Detroit’s star Henrik Zetterberg at the end of game two. Penguin Marc-Andre Fleury is due to have a big game. He’s a better goaltender than he has shown. Sid the Kid will find a way to put the puck in the net. Red shirts usually surround Sidney Crosby, but he had a great chance in game two when his shot just caught Osgood’s skate for the save.
Don’t count out Bill Guerin. He is another talented penguin who has put up seven goals and eight assists in the playoffs. Look for him to play a role tonight.
Pittsburgh can’t afford to lose game three in their building. A loss would give the Red Wings a 3-0 advantage, and the series would be virtually over. With this in mind, expect the Penguins to play their best hockey.
Tonight’s game will be televised at 8 on Versus.
